The Ocean State Pride Volleyball League was established in 1998 to provide a welcoming, safe, and accepting environment to meet, socialize, and play volleyball with others in the Rhode Island LGBTQIA+ community. Our league has 5 core values we embody:
Core Values: Openness, Safety, Philanthropy, Vision, Leadership
The OSPVL runs an all year co-ed recreational league both indoor and outdoor, following USVBA rules. This league consists of all ages over 18, warmly welcoming our straight allies as well. This is an OPEN league, which means there are no tryouts in order to get in - just show up ready to play and have fun!
The league generally plays a 9-12 week program each season, with an open registration and nominal fee. The league welcomes all levels of play from beginner to competitive, and offers opportunities for skill building and connection with clinics provided by league members/coaches. Regular session play consists of creating randomized teams and playing each team at least once before repeating this process once again. This randomized selection of teams helps provide drop-in opportunities for those who have not yet pre-registered or are visiting from out of state. OSPVL also hosts tournaments and scrimmages to help foster a fun and competitive play.
If you would like more information send an email to oceanstatepridevolleyball@gmail.com.... Facebook group members will receive periodic updates to league and social events.
